1974 July 14, 2006 Mr. Kofi Annan Secretary General United Nations New York, New York United States
Dear Mr. Secretary General,
Israel, as a member of the United Nations, and like all other members, is obliged and committed to abide by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the United Nations Charter and to implement United Nations resolutions. The government of Israel, however, has continuously discarded UN resolutions concerning peace in Middle East, especially with regards to withdrawing from occupied land and recognizing the rights of Palestinians to an independent state. Furthermore, Israel in many instances, like their most recent military invasion of Gaza, has committed acts of genocide against innocent and defenseless Palestinian men, women and children.
The latest Israeli military operation against Lebanon is another example of rebellion against international covenants.
We strongly condemn these Israeli atrocities against the Palestinian people and the waging of war against Palestine and Lebanon.
We ask you to use all power of your office to force Israel to stop this violation and refer her case to the newly established United Nations Human Rights Council.
Sincerely, Ebrahim Yazdi Secretary General Freedom Movement of Iran Tehran
